Jimyeong Yu to lead finance and business strategies for Kyulux in preparation for commercialization of Hyperfluorescence™ technology.
Fukuoka, Japan, July 1, 2024 – Kyulux, Inc., a world leader in next-generation organic light emitting diode (OLED) emitter materials technology, today announced the addition of Jimyeong Yu to its executive management team.
As CFO of Kyulux, Jimyeong Yu will oversee financial accounting operations including procurement activities, and as a member of the management team, will be involved in formulating and implementing future business plans. After earning a master’s degree in materials science from the University of Tokyo, Yu worked in the investment banking division of JP Morgan, where he worked on M&A and fundraising advisory work, mainly for electronics manufacturers. In 2017, he founded the startup Handii Inc. (now Paid Inc.), where he served as president and CEO and developed a business for cloud-based payment service. In 2021, he became a director of the FinTech Association of Japan for six years, and since 2022, he has been the association’s executive director.
Kyulux is confident that Mr. Yu’s extensive experience in the financial industry and his management skills that led startups to success will contribute greatly to our operations.
Mr. Nobuyuki Nakano, CEO of Kyulux, said, “I would like to share with you all my joy at welcoming Jimyeong Yu to the team. Mr. Yu has all the necessary qualities and experience to support Kyulux’s success and continued development and will be a valuable contributor as we move toward commercializing TADF and Hyperfluorescence™ and further growth.”
Jimyeong Yu stated:” I am pleased to have been appointed CFO of Kyulux, Inc. In the materials research I undertook as a university student, I tried to improve the efficiency of my experiments by predicting physical properties based on quantum chemical calculations, but I had to give up on the research without being able to achieve it, which I regret. Many years have passed since then, and I was shocked to see the advanced research and development that Kyulux is conducting using calculations. This was the deciding factor for me to take on this job.
Furthermore, Kyulux has not only developed the world’s leading 4th generation OLED light emitting technology, ”Hyperfluorescence™”, but also believes that it has infinite possibilities in the field of OLED materials by further developing its MI platform “Kyumatic™,” which utilizes the experimental data and quantum chemical calculations it has accumulated to date, as well as AI.I will use my experience as an investment banker and startup CEO to take on the challenge of making Kyulux a global leader in OLED materials, and I will dedicate my life to it.I look forward to working with you.”
Jimyeong Yu will take over as Kyulux’s CFO, replacing Akira Minakuchi, who passed away too soon in September 2023. Kyulux would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the late Mr. Ito for his achievements during his lifetime, and we wish him even greater success at Kyulux.
